Hi.  I've seen a variety of topics in this list, so I thought I'd ask.

My father's family is from Romania.
His mother's family was from Novoselitsa, his father's family was from Botosani.
His parents married in Chernovitz.  They lived in Bucharest as well for a time.
One his uncles and family lived in Reni.

What I'm asking about, as a not-quite youngster who barely remembers life before internet....
is about transportation and communication.
I'd like to hear stories from the assembled who were there:

How did you communicate with loved ones in other cities...?  Only
How did you get from town to town?  I'm presuming a lot of this was by train...what was involved in getting to the train, what was the trip like.....etc....?

Growing up in America, I learned about the invention of the car, and telephone, etc.
But most of what I learned was from the United States point of view.  I'm wondering what it was like over in Romania.

Thank you all,
Lisa
