Life flows slowly by in those backyards.
Enclosed by walls from all sides , all you got was patch of sky.
We also had a Boidem- that is attic- which was common and accessible
by a ladder where you kept things no longer needed but parting from was
unthinkable.
Down in the Keiler , cellar, you kept wooden logs , potatoes , onions
and ice for the next summer.
There was also the place where the Hausmeister lived .
We had one Olga who fraternized with the Rumanian geandarms and
would point out the flats where the Jews lived,
and they fired at the windows.
