Dear Edgar, dear list members,
The pictures from the Synagogue in Siret
<http://hauster.blogspot.ro/2012/07/still-lifes-at-synagogue-of-siret-3357.h
tml> reminded me too of time spent in Siret when leaving Czernowitz in 1945.
Another image from Siret at that time was the long street with all houses
boarded up and empty, a street formerly alive with the Jewish population.
The previous pictures sent by Edgar Hauser of the inner courts of houses in
Czernowitz reminded me as well of visiting one of them, where my parents
have had friends. The big inner courtyard was completely silent and empty:
Everybody had been deported to Transnistria the day before.
Thanks,
Henry Sinnreich
