Hardy....there probably were no gusts of wind. During the war in Europe when
the Luftwaffe came over,the Allies ducked;when the RAF came the Germans
ducked: when the Americans came over everybody ducked!! Cornel

During the years of war 1941 - 44 in Czernowitz, we lived with a population
of Rumanians and Ruthenians .
   We didn't love them and they didn't love us.( understatement)
     This feeling was reciprocal.
    They were the masters , we were the tolerated.
      The Rumanians ,partners of the Nazis in beating the
   ever hated Russians were in a patriotic euphoria.
     They declared war on America.
     We lived with this for 3 long years.

   In 1945 American bombers bombed the Gara the Nord marshalling
   yard in Bucharest.
     Because of wind gusts the bombs fell on nearby Grivitsa street
     causing 5000 civilian Rumanian casualties.
      This was war with America.
