My father was a soldier in the KuK army and took part in the never- ending
Isonzo battles where he was wounded. He used to tell us a story of the war.
I cannot say if its true :
" One stormy night an artillery piece had to be positioned on a hill.
The crew was Jewish.
No matter how hard the tried , the gun stuck in deep mud ,
wouldn't budge.
A unit of Alpenjaeger passing by asked what the problem was.
The Austrian sergeant then said to his boys : "Lets move it " and in no
time
the gun was in position.
The Jewish officer looked at the performance and shook his head:
" Keine Kunst , das war mit Gewalt !"
( No big deal, they used force !)
