My grandmother Emma Wurmbrand Hirsch is buried in that cemetery and we went to visit it in 2000, A Romanian couple lives on the grounds and maintains the cemetery, their sheep and goats help with the grass, I'm sure. I do not know how they get paid.
It's a beautiful cemetery, idyllic on a hill. There is much work to do in Cimpulung, there are a number of small synagogues full of rotting books and objects, or at least there were in 2000.
