 We dont know what he believed or just said he believed.
He appropriated the story as if he was there.

I don't know about post-memory but I just discovered a new type of memory
I'm calling 'ego-memory' which is recalling something that happened to
somebody else but convincing oneself that it happened to yourself. One day
in the 1980s I was having a bite with my younger son in a popular deli in
Los Angeles which, at the time, was practically empty.
