   Also impressed by the CBE received by Mike Fuhr, a higher grade than
the OBE already received! He sounds very modest but to receive such an
award he must have rendered a fairly great service to the country.

  My parents and myself came to England in
1959 and were very well received as "refugees" from Romania. A few years
later, we were nationalized and became proud British citizens. I left
England after graduating for personal reasons, but have kept my
citizenship and will never change it.
As some of you might know, another "Czernowitzer ydl", Charles Rosner,
who came with his parents as refugees to France, is a Chevalier de la
Legion d'Honneur. This is not to lessen Mike's merits.

Am a great fan of "Scherzl" there is nothing like eating the crispiest
part of a fresh bread loaf. Well-known term and personal taste since my
childhood.

By the way, does anyone remember a habit which my mother-in-law used to
keep - she cut my daughter's finger-nails and burnt them rather than
throw them away which might bring bad luck.
