Hi Sylvie! There are 2 different things both called "knoedel" . The first
is the solid ones,the 2nd is the filled variety which are the same as
pirogen.Your Aunt Rosa's apricot-filled version is Marillenknoedel . And my
mouth is watering from remembering the taste! Cornel

I eat several times pirogen made by my aunt Rosa Reicher at home :
always we used this name in my Radautzer family. Is there a yiddish
name or german name ?
I don't know....
They were filled with potatoes and onions in winter. In other seasons,
there were filled with apricot or sour cherries.
