This photograph, apparently taken at the Czernowitz Jewish cemetery
in the spring of 2007 is very misleading. Because the two flowering
trees
are so very tall, the weeds and undergrowth seem shorter than they
actually were.
On the photograph the trees look beautiful, but they are actually
horrid pests.
They are "Robinia pseudoacacia" in the US called black Locust.
They produce millions of seeds which quickly grow into new trees.
Their branches break easily and when they do fall on the graves they
damage them.
