Saffa Iviriah-- Thank Irene Fisher for sharing the links about teaching
Hebrew in Czernowitz. . Between 1934 and 1938 in the summer my mother and I
came to Czernowitz to visit my grandparents Fannie and Samuel Glasberg. We
came from Eretz Yisrael (Palestine) at first the language of our visits was
German. I have a vivid memory walking with my grandfather having a
conversation in German, when my grand father suddenly switched to Hebrew.
>From that time on all my conversation with my Saba were in Hebrew. Based on
the information I just received I assume that my grand father must have
studied in one of the adult Hebrew programs.

B' Shalom

Hi, all those interested in the Saffa Iwriah ( with all sorts of funny
spellings) in Czernowitz and Bukowina.

Here is the link to the Chapter about Hebrew teaching in Czernowitz, in Hugo
Gold's "History of the Jews in Bukowina"
