Thank you, Hardy, for reminding me how beautiful Residenz is.

I have spent many pleasant hours there as a child and with my friends as I
lived quite near by, corner Universitetskaya and Bogdan Khmelnitzki (yimakh
shmo!) streets. The gardens, the buildings-even during the Soviet era it was
kept in order and it was breathtakingly beautiful.

By the way, are there any Soviet names of the streets on the website?
Yesterday, I spent some considerable time with my mother on the phone trying
to figure out the streets' names. That made her very happy, but at her age
(she is 85 years young) she had difficulty remembering, especially
considering the fact that she spent most of her adult life under the
Soviets.

Also, as she has reminded me, all streets had Romanian names too. Now the
names are changed again. Very confusing....Is there a directory containing
all streets' names somewhere?

I think that the website should be more enclusive of people who lived in
Chernovtzy during the Soviet era. Actually, if my parents had left after
WWII I wouldn't have been born at all as they met and married in 1953.

Czernowitz-Cernauti-Chernovitsy-Chernivtsi -The Residenz and other beautiful
sites have seen them all come and go but the beauty of the city still
remains standing.
