David,

I identified the long building on the former Siebenburgerstrasse,
which you think
was the school named "Liceul Oltea Doamna". I also looked at the
Yandex map,
on which you can see it as it looks currently.
Access Yandex and in the space for the city and street you are
looking for, enter:
Черновцы Украине Головна Улица
This is: Chernovtsi Ukraine Holovna Ulitsa
Then place the pointer at the north-east corner of the Volksgarten and
look across the street and to the south. You will see a large plain
building,
painted white, almost straight across Holovna/ Siebenburger Strasse
and further south of it a large impressive building painted pink.
This looks as if it was the school. I do not know what it is currently.
The white building must have been part of the Kasserne.
The actual Kasserne was north of it, on the same side (East) of
the Siebenburgerstrasse, but across the Kassernegasse / str.Cazărmii.
In Austrian times it was called Albrecht Kasserne" and it is shown on
both
the Stadtplan of 1941 and the older maps.
Between 1942 - 1945, I lived right next to it on the Schmiedgasse /
strada Cronicarul Neculcea. Currently this barracks stands empty and
neglected,
I do not think it has been in use since the Romanians left in early
March 1944.
