Subject: [Cz-L] Stolpersteine
Dear all,
last week, I was in Prague, where I attended the laying of two Stolpersteine
I had ordered for my grandfather's sister (Else TAMLER) and his uncle (Dr.
Wilhelm HALPERN), who were living in Prague during WWII and were deported
from there, never to return. Personally, I consider this form of remembrance
very appropriate and am very happy to have had the possibility to order
above mentioned two stones and be there for the stone laying.
I am assuming most of you have heard about the Stolpersteine - if not, here
is the link to the "mother" project:
http://stolpersteine.com/EN/home.html
explaining what this is all about. The project started in Germany but has
spread to other countries as well [ for the two stones I ordered I contacted
http://stolpersteine.cz/ ]
I have been thinking about trying to organize Stolpersteine for those of my
relatives in Bucovina who were deported to and never returned from
Transnistria. I am aware of a few Stolpersteine laid in 2009 in Ukraine, but
no Stolpersteine in Romania or Moldova - as far as I can tell. There is a
list of places with Stolpersteine here
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_cities_by_country_that_have_Stolperstei
ne
I was wondering if there is anyone out there interested in such an action?
not sure how one would have to go about it - but perhaps if there are more
of us we can organize something? This would need close cooperation with the
local authorities - too big a project for me to start on my own ...
Thank you for any feedback or suggestions you might offer.
Kind regards,
Dana
