The word in Yiddish is "BANDIT", not Bandid
Bendid is probably a name derived from a Latin language,
either Romanian, or Spanish or Italian. So possibly a Sephardi Jew.
Possibly a descendant of the Jews who lived in Czernowitz
when it was part of the Ottoman empire.
