Bruce,

Thank you for writing to us about your pleasant experience,
visiting the home of your great-grandparents.
It is not reasonable to expect that such an experience
would have been experienced by everyone who wanted to visit
his or his family's home. After all, how many of us would
have invited a perfect stranger, who suddenly appeared
at our doorstep to come into our homes?
But , I too was invited into homes. (without food or dancing).

No matter what, it is wrong to blame the sins of one generation,
on the next one. Possibly, if we want to gage the attitudes
of people in the Chernivtsi region, we could consider
what percentage of the vote, the Svoboda party got
in the 2010 presidential elections in the Chernivtsi Oblast.
Svoboda is a nationalist party, and its platform is anti-corruption.
While mostly anti-Russian, it also advocates anti-Semitic attitudes
and policies.

From Wikipedia I got the following data:
The percentage of voters in the Chernivtsi Oblast who voted
for the Svoboda party in 2010 is 1.18% and this party came in,
in the 8th place.
For the whole Ukraine the party got 1.43% of the vote.

Representation in the Chernivtsi Oblast council for Svoboda
was 3,9% which translates into 4 seats out of 104.

The 3 oblasts which had the highest representation
of the Svoboda party on their councils in 2010 are:
Ternopil oblast council - 34.69%
Lviv oblast council - 25.98% and
Ivano Frankivs council - 16.60%

To the best of my knowledge, in the 2012 elections,
the percentage of voters who voted for Svoboda
in Chernivtsi oblast went up to 8.7%.
In Lviv oblast it went up to 38.1%
