Dear Bruce, dear Jerome,

is Brody to off-topic? Yes, it's Galicia and not Bukovina. On the other hand it's a typical example how history is treated in contemporary Ukraine. You decide. I'm not insultad if you decide against posting.

[Since so many list members have their root also in Galicia (MY GF was born in Podhajce but as
a young adult, lived and worked in Cz) we have always accepted posts about Galicia. See also
my recent post (NYT article about the 'camps' -- Photo of the Brody ghetto). Edgar has Brody
album in the Photos section. Jerome]

Dear all,

a new blog post at Vanished World: Brody was once one of the most Jewish cities of the Austro-Hungarian empire. The writer Joseph Roth, the most famous native son of the city, described with melancholy the decay of the monarchy. The ruins of a synagogue and an impressive cemetery still recall Jewish Brody. But in the local museum, the reinterpretation of history is already completed: Jews have never lived in Brody.
