Dear Marion,
I don't know whether you are still in Czernowitz.
There was a misunderstanding. I recommended you both the KNAUS as well
as the the Restaurant "SLAVA" which is just opposite the Church -
Herz-Jesu Kirche - where the archives are or were. Slava is a wonderful,
very friendly woman, who welcomes all our friends and acquaintances with
great generosity. Should you go there, our best regards to her and her
family.
Maybe you can still find it.
Pity, I forgot to tell you that my grand-father, Abraham Meerbaum is
also buried in the cemetery, he died in the autumn of 1942. Maybe his
grave is also not too far from Max's, although Max died much earlier. We
had a new gravestone put there a few years ago, in 2007.
When my mother was younger, the family lived also in the Bilaergasse No.
10, (part of the house still stands)and later a bit higher up the hill,
number forgotten.
Of course, they met Selma and her parents many times, everyone going or
coming from and to town.
Thank you for informing the List of all your activities. I believe today
starts the poetry festival. I am sure you will tell us about it too.
Many regards from Berlin,
Gabriele
