Thank you so much for your hint concerning the first publication of Paul
Celan's "Death Fugue" in Romanian language. I do know, that Celan published
several poems in "Agora", but I'm very in doubt, if this applies to the
"Death Fugue" too. John Felstiner from Stanford mentioned as follows:
"'Todesfuge' first appeared not in German but in Romanian (it was Celan's
first published poem and his first under the name 'Celan'). In May 1947, the
Bucharest magazine Contemporanul printed Petre Solomon's translation..."

An earlier publication of the "Death Fugue" would be in fact a most
fascinating find. Do you have any evidence for that?
