I think and wonder :
If Paul Celans mother tongue was Rumanian and not German
would he ever have reached the peaks he reached with the "Todesfuge"?
With the best translators- poets on the market !
"Tangoul Mortii" ? How far would this have gone ?

Petre Solomon was a writer and translator who befriended Paul
Celan during his time in Bucharest
and translated "Deathfugue" into Romanian. I knew him personally and he
gave me the "Dimensiunea Romaneasca"
book published in 1987. The version mentioned by Edgar came out in 2008 and
also contains an epilogue by
the poet Nina Cassian.
"Liceul Ortodox" was "Liceul Ortodox Mitropolitul Silvestru" started under
the Austrians as a German language school.
