[Cz-L] Help for Bernard Tubiana

Dear all,

I was recently contacted by one Bernard Tubiana, who had read my piece
about the cemetery in Czernowitz. He is going there in a few days and
wondered if I might have any information regarding guides, translators and
the like. If anyone is willing to help him out, please let me know and I
will pass your messages on to him.

As to my story, the basic sketch is that my maternal grandmother was born
in Vienna, my maternal grandfather in Czernowitz. They survived the war in
Romania and eventually emigrated to Germany(?!?) via Israel. My mom was
born in Romania. My dad's side is from Tunisia. All this resulted in me
being born in France and growing up in Germany. [Wenn du Deutsch sprichts
or lest, kann ich Dir auch mal welche Zeilen von meiner Gro=DFsmutter auf
Deutsch schicken]. That said, I've been in the US since eight grade (1978)
and now live in New Jersey.

I'm going mostly to Romania with my uncle who was born there. For
Czernowitz, I have booked a hotel and that's about it. Are there any
particular people who you found to be most knowledgable? Anyone who is
local who you would recommend connecting with? I also send a note to the
local Chabad rabbi, but have not yet heard back.
