This photograph was taken last summer at the time the volunteers
of ASF were working at the cemetery. The man doing the explaining
is Georg Goosman. He participated in this year's work-camp and also
in the ones in 2011 and 2010.
He has received professional advice on how to apply the herbicide
in the most efficient manner and is demonstrating it to rabbi
Glissenstein.
The other man beside the rabbi is Jakob Schwartzmann,
a Jewish resident of Chernivtsi and a friend of Georg Goosman.
The woman is Ala Schwartzmann, the wife of Jakob.
Never mind whether the rabbi volunteers to work at the cemetery or not.
What about us, Czernowitzers who's grandparents and great-grandparents
are interred in this cemetery?
I German citizens in their sixties and seventies can and do this work,
Why should we not do the same?
Some of our members have occasionally volunteered
to work with volunteers from other organizations,
could we not organize a group of our own?
Possibly with our children and grandchildren.
Does this appeal to any of you?
