A few years ago, I visited the village of Stanesti de Jos,
now named Nizhni Stanivtsi, in the company of Sasha Wolloch,
who's great-grandparents lived in this village and who's great
-grandfather was murdered in one of the many massacres
which took place in the region in the summer of 1941.

Currently the village is unremarkable,
none of the village, people we spoke to, mentioned the massacre
even though some could tell us in which house Sasha's relatives lived.
