            In my family, going to the Pruth meant going to the "Venetia". There were wooden cabins
to put on your swimsuit and leave your dress clothes. There were large enclosed areas where
the women could sunbathe naked. At noon, they would go to the restaurant for "Mittagessen"
followed by afternoons of card playing. In the meantime, the kids were playing in the sand by
the shore supervised by Ruthenian housemaids. Now and then you could hear a cry for
help from someone who had fallen into a "Wirbel".
Those were the days.
