Dear Gerhard,
thank you for your information - that rather shocked me. In 1940 Streinul wrote the foreword of the poet Discipol Mihnea who was translated by Selma Meerbaum-Eisinger who died in Transnistria. Selma was an active member of Hashomer Hazair.

I wonder if people knew about his political career? Is there any link that refers to him belonging to the "legionars"?

Mircea Streinul was an active "legionar", (member of the Iron Guard). I
read the quoted paragraph it is obviously very anti-russian and
anti-communist. The main culprits in Cz, all had Jewish names and a ex-seminarian by the
the name of Ierichon, who sided with the new masters, was identified as
formerly named Iampolski (a typical Jewish name in Russia). The virulent
style is typical of the time the books were published: 1942, before the battle
of Stalingrad. That would explain the mention of Transnistria considered
part of Romania.
