Our late friend Prof. Zwi Yaavets attended the Yiddish school 26 on Schul
Gasse. His name at that time was Harry Zucker. I personally attended the
Yiddish school no. 5 on the Austria Platz. The "teacher Doktorowicz", was
the principal but only for a short period of time. He appeared to be a
dedicated Communist but the Party did not really like him and he was later
replaced. Haim Gininger and Hersch Segal were teachers at school no.5.

There must have been two Yiddish schools at that time (Marianne Hausleitner:
Die Rumänisierung der Bukowina. Die Durchsetzung des nationalstaatlichen
Anspruchs Grossrumäniens 1918-1944. München: R.Oldenbourg Verlag, 2001,
S.364.) and I wonder who went to which one? Selma Merbaum went to the
Yiddish School Nr. 5 on Austriaplatz - the other one was the Yiddish school
Nr. 26 on Schulgasse. - "Teacher Doktorovic" was head of one of them in
summer 1940.

yes I just saw it on my facebook,In the lower row I remember Prof,Segal and
Gininger who were my teachers at the Jewish school on the Austriaplatz
 in 1940 to 1941,when the sowiets left.All others, I cannot remember,there
was another jewish school on the Schulgasse . thanks for the picture
