It is interesting & sad to listen about the disapearance of the Czernowitzer Jewry us
being the leftovers. The narations seem very timid as no one can realy tell the story as it was.
Most are newcomers to the city & much is said about assumptions. The younger generation of Ukrainians see the past Czernowitzer as a no subject mater. As for the older generation the grains of anti Semitism, I think, are still albeit in a dormant state. The fact is there is a pitifull minority of Jews for the original Czernowitzers like us are on the way out. What I think is the interviewers see a city & buildings that do tell a story of a once vibrant city where industry, culture, & a way of life the like of a capital city abounded. The original inhabitants disappeared it does arouse curiosity. I like the idea of these interviews.

Dear all,
how does it feel to be Jewish in Chernivtsi today, former Czernowitz? What do Ukrainian neighbors think about Jews? Is there anti-semitism? A German-Ukrainian video by "Medienwerkstatt Identity Films" gives insights. All possible answers are in a gray scale. What is needed are more youth projects like this.
