Do not look in dictionary or in Google about Nettchen...
Nettchen is the shortening of the name Henriette or Netty "Kosenamen" in
German...In most of Jewish families in Czernowitz, the parents and friends
did not call the choldren with the full name, like in Germany, for example,
Maximilian or Felicitas, they called Max, or Fella..or Bubi, Bubtsiu, or
Maedi..that because before the WW1 was the Chief/Rabbi Rosenfeld in
Czernowitz. He said that the antisemitism is growing and gave the advise to
the parents to give pure German names to the newborn children..My late
husband, born in 1913 had the name Gottfried...Family and friends never used
this name...

it is not the Yiddish term for "endearment" that is being looked for but a
"tzertlich word" for a close friend whose name was Renée. I read it as
"Netschere" or "Netschele"?
