it is not the Yiddish term for "endearment" that is being looked for but a "tzertlich word" for a close friend whose name was Renée. I read it as "Netschere" or "Netschele"?

I did not find in my dictionary the word "nettchen". "Endearment" in
Yiddish is "Tzertlichkeit".

Czernowitzers...

This from Marion Tauschwitz in this morning's mail:

-----
Dear Jerome,
attached you find a photo with a handwritten nickname Selma Merbaum used
for her friend Renée. I hesitate whether my request is important enough
to address to all Czernowitzer - if you think so, I would be pleased if
you could forward it:

This is the handwritten nickname Selma Merbaum used for her friend Renée
Abramovici.
In all so far transcriptions you can read "Nettchen" - but I do not
agree with it. Couldn't it be a a tender way in Yiddish to address to a
close friend?

I have posted the photo of the 'nickname' to our Blog at:
