I recognize among the society news of "Der Tag" some names,
which may be of interest to the members of our list and am translating
some of the announcements into English:

1. Promotion. On July 1, at the university of Wurzburg, Siegfried
Wittner,
son of the local merchant Leon Wittner, was promoted to doctor
     of general medicine.

2. Mr. Adolf Schifter, son of the Jewish community board member,
Schulim Schifter, was promoted on July 15th, at the university
of Padua,
Italy, to the rank of general medicine.

3. Golden wedding Jubilee. On the 25th of this month, Mr. Josef Luwisch
and his wife, Auguste Luwisch, nee Schneyer, celebrated with
their families,
the rare and beautiful celebration of the golden wedding
anniversary.
The couple are both in a state of complete physical health and
mental alertness. Till shortly before the break out of the war
(WW1),
Mr Josef Luwisch was apothecary in Wiznitz, where he also served
as mayor and head of the Jewish community.

4. Personal announcement. As discovered from a London announcement;
Director Mathias Roll, in a session of the Royal British
Economic society,
chaired by professor Keynes, was accepted as a member of this
society.

5. Nomination to specialist. With the decision of the court of appeal
of Cernauti,
of the 5th of Oct., the engineer Gustav Hildebrand of Czernowitz
has been nominated to the post of Judicial expert on all branches
of electro-technical as well as, tramcar and electrical-train
related
judicial matters for the province of Bucovina.

6. Thanks of Dr. Ebner. In a letter to our editorial staff, Dr. Ebner
asks us
to wholeheartedly thank all people, who thought of him, on the
occasion
of his reaching the age of 60; Dr. Theodore Wisselberger, Dr.
Manfred Reifer,
Dr. Leon Schmelzer, Dr. Jakob Geller, Minister Dr. Sauciuc-
Saveanu,
the sport association "Makkabi", the song association
"Hasamir", Dean of
the university, prof. Dr. Radulescu, Dr. von Zaloziecky, ......
