 I'm afraid you misunderstood.  I used Sarah Bernhardt as an example.
 
I found 4 children of Dr. Chernoviz:  Fernando, Alphonsine, Clementine, and Valentine. 
I saw where Alphonsine married> Joseph Henry Gabriel des Moutis.  If Julie is Jewish, as I
suspect, her daughters could pass along her religion to their daughters. 
 
I was suspect of Dr. Chernoviz's first name.  It translates to Peter.  Peter is one of the Apostles. 
It is common for Jews to take Old Testament names and common for Christians to take New
Testament names, like Marie.  At best, he might be the child of a mixed marriage.
 
This, of course, is all speculation since the online records of Jewish births in Lukow
do not go back to 1812.  Julie's history seems the more interesting.  In America, at least,
Jews changed their names to Bernard or Bernardi.  I suspect, that before France, her ancestors
came from Spain.
 
I'm sorry if I could not find a more definitive answer to your question.
