Austrian German includes a lot of French words, or at least words of
French origin.
Such as "troittor" for sidewalk instead of Fussgaengersteg in German
Or "bandage" instead of Binde or Verband.
In Czernowitz, those who were reasonably well educated spoke Austrian
or at least strove to do so.
