Hi Eytan,

I believe that Kolomiya was indeed such a place. My maternal grandfather, Litman Katz, was born there, and in later years, crossed the Cheremush River into the Village of Milie near Viznitz in Bukowina. He was the only Jewish framer in the entire village. He not only cultivated the land, he also built the first Mill in that village.
