Dear Benjamin,
thank you for the additional information - ever so interesting. I will tell the guide next time I visit Czernowitz. But doesn't it tell of history nevertheless?
It might be an interesting project to follow up Czernowitz' myths and take them as documents historically important and relics of memories that should not fade.
Kindest regards,

Dear Marion and Edgar,

I´m sorry to tell you, this is one more of the czernowitz´ myths... This a pedestal of a Schiller monument, but not the one which stood in front for the theatre. If you look at other photos on "Gruss aus Czernowitz" you can see, that they are quite similar, but there is a difference at the base. This is the pedestal of the Schiller monument which stood in the inner courtyard of the "Deutsches Haus" / German House and was removed after the "Heim ins Reich" policy was executed. There is a photo of that Schiller on "Gruss aus Czernowitz" but -as always in such situations- I did not find it know.

All the best
