Re my preceding mail may I also direct you to messages from me and Irene Fishler (Jan 8 and Jan 9 2013, resp.) regarding info that was available to us at that time.

There are still some little incongruities - for instance Irene remembers that he reached Israel from Cyprus in December 1943 via Lebanon, whereas Yavetz recalled he reached it in 1944, with the help of some Israeli officers in the British Army. But at our young age (my little granddaughter tells us we are people from the Tanakh...) we can excuse such small differences in our memories.

What is important is to gather all these bits of historic info into a coherent story of some lucky Czernowitzers who were able to escape already in 1942.

The bits in Davar - although they also contain some small incongruities (well reporters - then, as well as nowadays, are not always particularly accurate) - are important because they are notes about events that happened a day or several days before, and not 70 years ago.
