Dear Hardy,

I wonder whether Williams chose - or even agreed to the choice of - the particular German word Sehnsucht for the translation of Desire in his oevre. It may have been just the decision of the German translator who did not want to use the provocative word Begierde - or Lust - which is the theme of the play,
