 Rumanian peasants shoewear the Opinci.
  Made of cow hide sheep skin and without a sole.
   Just the animal skin.
     The pointed front end was the meeting point of the
  contraption sides when laced up with a bendel.
    In Alaska they are made of moose skin and named mukluks.
      No moose in Rumania.
