In the 1970s my work took me to a town near Schilleršs birthplace, which
was then a pub, as I recall. My hosts took me there. It was interesting
to me partly because my late grandmother, who was from Radautz and that
neighbourhood, often quoted Schiller, even though she was just a teenager
when she and her family moved to Staten Island. (That is my connection to
the Goldschlagers of Czernowitz, although I am not yet sure exactly what
that connection was.

Apparently Beethoven also quoted him, but I would not know about that
