Miriam,those kind of marriages lead to inbreeding and genetically-caused
disasters..and I have had to deal with some!! Not to be recommended!

According to Jewish tradition, it is permissible that first cousins
also uncle and niece can marry. In my family there are cases of both.
Not only is it permissible, but it was often done in rural areas
in order to keep the land in the family or if the bride did not have
a dowry.
