I regret but I can't agree with the cursory review of the last article.
Anybody who has visited rural Ukraine (and Russia!) can see how much those
places are neglected and lagging behind the West. The people there have lost
faith in the corrupt regimes. The only reason they want intimacy with the
West is the hope that this will enable them to emigrate there and escape
their disconsolate situation. Look up Karapchiv on Google Earth and you'll
see the site published there. This situation has changed very little since
the early 90's.
