This was  not the  La Scala of Milano,
And not New York Carnegie Hall ,
  Not the Paris Palais Garnier
  Not the  amphitheatre  of Verona,

  But it was ours , ours alone,
    The best there was in town,
    And we were proud ,so proud to have it.
    Our  Mehlplatz Musikverein.

I think before the war we saw
an Austrian stage production of "Zum Weissen Roesel"
& during the Russian period we had Chrismas events
"Yalka" I think. Anybody ???
