Some of my Czernowitz relatives actually emigrated to Germany after the
war. When I learned they had done so I was shocked but In all fairnesa I
understand the present German government has been most contrite about the
Holocaust and has done much to try to make its Jewish population feel welcome an
part of their community.. They seem to have succeeded.

Cornel is right, I remember my mother saying that some Germans did
return to Czernowitz, very disappointed with "Heim ins Reich", rather
pennyless and yes, that many emigrated .
