Subject: Fwd: Help needed on October 19, 2014 - MyHeritage at Holon Cemetery
We are delighted to invite you to be a part of history in the making!
On October 19th, 2014, MyHeritage will be hosting the largest cemetery digitization event in the world. Taking place in the Holon cemetery, we will join many others and attempt to photograph all 200,000 gravestones in that cemetery in one day. IGRA is asking everyone to come out and volunteer and to help promote this event by asking all of your contacts, friends and family to come out and volunteer.
Why Holon?
As the largest cemetery in Israel, practically everyone in Israel has a relative buried in the Holon cemetery and therefore it's incredibly important to store this information online, enabling people not only to trace where their ancestors are buried and see the gravestone, but using the built-in GPS feature of the BillionGraves app, helping them navigate directly to their ancestors grave. We hope that this initiative and the media interest that it will garner, will inspire other people to go out and photograph additional cemeteries, contributing incredibly valuable genealogy content for the wider community and preserving this information for future generations.
There will be a training session for all participants in advance of the event; more information and details will follow. Please sign up even if you don't have a "smart phone"!
To confirm your attendance please complete this short form: http://bit.ly/1oSNniR
We look forward to seeing you ALL!
