David...

Checking the archives of the Czernowitz daily newspaper "Der Tag" at

http://dertag.forenworld.com/index.php

by introducing "Bernfeld" into the search engine, I learned that the bookstore Dr. Bernfeld & Niedermayer was located on Herrengasse 20 (06.11.1932).

It's thrilling that from the last entry concerning "Dr. Bernfeld", dated 01.06.1934, we are learning that Dr. Bernfeld was accused by the Romanian authorities to be the leader of a Communist group. The members of this Communis cell used code names and were on the run?!

Dr. Bernfeld, not just an art lover, but a freedom fighter too! I'd love to learn more about his fate after 1934?!
