Hola Efraim - gracias por tu respuesta - la primera vez que me di
cuenta de esta foto estaba suelto y era cuando visitabamos a mi mama
en Brooklyn con mi primer marido (Salomon de Swaan) y el habiendo
nacido en Chile le llamó la atencion que tuviese una foto con el sello
del consulado Chileno - y entonce mi madre nos contó de sus esfuerzos
de conseguir documentos para librarnos y poder emigrar de CZ. Mi madre
nació en Snyatin y esto de algun modo le dio derecho a la ciudania
Polaca....asi que por fin consigio el documento. Pero segun me acuerdo
contó que los Rumanos nos negaron un visa de salida Mi Nombre
original es Sylvia Neuman - mis padres Simon Neuman y Etka Strum
Neuman. Naci en Czernowitz el 17 de Agosto 1941. Mi padre fue
conscrito por los Rusos y nosotros (madre, hemana mayor y, yo) nos
trasladaron al ghetto con los demas judios de Czernowitz y luego,
habra sido a mediados de 1942 nos deportaron a Transnistria. Despues
de la liberacion en '44 volvimos una temporarda a Cz para ver si nos
podimos encontrar con mi padre y demas parientes - pero los unicos
sobrevivientes que aparecieron eran mis abuelos maternos que pasaron
la guerra en Siberia. Luego emigramos a los EEUU yo por mi cuenta,
cuando tenia 21 años fui por una estancia de seis meses a Mexico pero
me quede once años y es alli donde aprendi hablar español.

Durante muchos años me alejaba de las pesadillas y historias sinietras
de mi niñez - y era solo con la caido del comunismo que me entró la
curiosidad sobre mis origenes y siendo artista/fotografa concebí un
proyecto titulado "Retorno" que trata mas con metafora que historia

ahora he hecho multiples viajes en tren atravesando las rutas que
viajabamos como refugiados - y he estado tres veces en Cz - mi mas
larga estancia en el verano 2013 por siete semanas

I wrote them a letter (in Spanish) but never received a reply - so if anyone else knows more about this I'd be very interested in an update
