My father, Adolf Mechner, acted in a Czernowitz theater company on an
occasional basis, and his brother Karl Mechner acted in it regularly. I
don't know if it was the same company as your grandfather's, but the time
period seems right. In any case I am forwarding this email to my sister,

Hello friends,

I am working on a graduate thesis about the life of my mother's family
(mother born in Czernowitz). My mother and her brother were told that my
grandfather worked as an actor and possibly director in the Czernowitz
Jewish Theater. This would have been in the 1920s and 30s. Do any of you
know if an archive of any kind was kept on the work done in the theater, or
where I could even begin trying to research this?
