Dear all,

Having just discovered that my great-grandmother Zetel was a Brutmann, I am wondering if anyone knows of the family.

I couldn't find the Brutmanns in the birth registry, so I wonder if my grandmother's parents were from another town in Bukowina/Galicia... I had always imagined that we were "from" Czernowitz, but maybe - as has been the case ever since - only one generation was born in this place, between migrations...

Was there a significant migration of Jews to Czernowitz in the late nineteenth century? I clearly need to go back to my books..

Kind regards,

Shula
