There were in Czernowitz both Brotman and Brautman families.
I do not know of any Brutman.
One of my high-school friends in Israel was a Matityahu Brotman
who changed his last name to "Lachmi"
Last I heard about him, he was on the faculty of the Chemistry Dept.
at Ben Gurion University in Beer Sheva in Israel.
By now he is 76 years old and is probably retired.
