Dear all,
SVIT Ukraine has announced a new work-camp in the Jewish cemetery of Chernivtsi. From July 19 to August 1 10 volunteers have the opportunity to clean the cemetery from rampant vegetation and at the same time to learn about Jewish history and present of Bukovina. To participate, there is no age limit.
Are you afraid to travel to Ukraine? You don't have to. That's what SVIT Ukraine says and to my experience the description is accurate: The project will take place in the west of Ukraine, more than 1000 km away from the eastern regions of the country. During the previous year the situation was peaceful and safe here, no mass protest actions or violence took place. We organized several international activities in the West of Ukraine in spring and summer of 2014 with over 40 participants from all over Europe. Nobody experienced problems during the travel to the project venues or during the activities themselves.
So come and lend a hand! I'll be there as well and will support you with guided tours and excursions!
