Hi Henry

Although I've only read two of his books ("Memoir of an Anti Semite" and
"The Snows of Yesteryear") I'm a great fan of his - he writes beautifully
and was honest enough to admit to the prevailing prejudices of the multi
cultural society that was once Cz. I was lucky enough to attend a lecture
of his in 1992 at the Drawing Center in NYC - he was indeed a cultured
person, having, like many of us lived complex lives that spanned different
countries, languages and cultures and that involved amending that sense of
self that is "I". I find the last chapter of "Memoir..." titled "Pravda" a
most astoundingly beautiful piece of writing & one I can quite totally
relate to.

In my stay in Czernowitz in 2013 I was very surprised that more people
didn't know about him & why his books weren't included among the literature
recommended to read.....I ordered a copy of "Mir auf der Spur" which I sent
as a present Mikola Kushnir at the Jewish Museum in gratitude for the help
offered me during my stay.

I'm shortly off to Temple Emanuel, here in Utica, NY to commemorate
Holocaust Remembrance Day.

peace & love to all

Sylvia de Swaan
